1. Why is the size of my card appearing slightly smaller when read by my system than the capacity listed on the label?

Cause
Flash memory card uses 1000KB to equal 1M where as Windows and other Operating Systems use 1024KB to equal 1M.

2. I know my digital device has a compatible slot for my card, but why isn't the card being read?

Cause :
The card may not be formatted or the device does not support the card with high capacity.

Solution :
Try the card in other devices to see if it works or not. If it works, try to format it (*All data will be lost if the card is formatted). If after formatting it still cannot work in the device, then check your device setting. If it cannot work on any device, contact your shop of purchase.

3. The card is not functioning properly.

Cause :
This could be due to small errors on the card.

Solution :
Run "scandisk" to check the error and recover it.

4. Why is my card not accessible, or why can't my pictures and files be opened?
Cause :
You may have unplugged the card or stopped the device before the writing process finished.

Solution :
To recover the pictures, try running "Scandisk" against the card. Or, you can try various image recovering programs available on the Internet. To make the card usable again, reformat the card. However, you may lose files during this operation.

5. How come my card won't read in my digital device, or how come my reader is showing the wrong card capacity?
Cause :
Possible corruption on card.

Solution :
CAUTION: THIS WILL DELETE ALL FILES ON THE CARD

To Reformat the card:
1. Place the card in the reader
2. Right click on the drive letter for the reader
3. Choose format
4. Choose full format with no label
5. Finish the format
6. Test card, it should now be working correctly.

Note: Certain cameras may require you to format the card in the camera

6. The photos on my card are corrupted or lost, how can I recover them?
Cause :
The card may have been used in an abnormal environment such as taking pictures with weak batteries, large static charges to the card, or airport x-ray machines. File corruption is caused by many things and our memory cards are less susceptible than regular hard drivers or other media with moving parts.

Solution :
Since most flash memory cards such as Compact Flash or SmartMedia are not designed for use in a computer environment, files may get corrupted if you access them through card readers directly in the computer. It may also destroy the file systems on the cards and mess up the formatting, which will require a reformat.

7. I cannot download images from my Compact Flash card or HP camera to my Windows 2000/XP based computer. Why does it say card needs to be formatted when trying to download?
Cause :
HP digital cameras PhotoSmart 315 and 315xi cannot directly download images larger than 32MB to Windows 2000/XP.

Solution :
You need card readers to transfer files.

8. My Compact Flash card cannot format in my digital camera, what can I do?
Cause :
Corrupted storage system structure.

Solution :
You may be able to recover the card by using a program such as Partition Magic or Fdisk to creat a new DOS partition on the card. Plug your card into a PC with PCMCIA adapter. In DOS prompt, type Fdisk. If there are 4 options, exit Fdisk and go on further. If there are 5 options, select the 5th option, then select the drive letter of the card reader, verify the capacity. Delete the primary DOS partition of the card and create it again. Format the card. It should then be workable again. If you are using an operating system without DOS, you need to have a DOS bootdisk. If you are using the desktop to read the card through a USB card reader, you need to use a third party program such as Partition Magic 7 or higher which supports USB storage or "Disk Management" on Windows XP or 2000.

9. When I insert my Compact Flash card to my laptop's Compact Flash slot, Windows tries to install a new hard driver, is that correct?
Cause :
Windows will see the Compact Flash card as a hard drive

Solution :
Windows will see the Compact Flash card as a hard drive and will install the Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller. This is correct and Windows should be allowed to proceed.

10. My SmartMedia does not support Panorama feature in my Olympus Digital Camera.
Cause :
Standard SmartMedia does not support this feature.

Solution :
Only SmartMedia cards purchased directly from Olympus will support the Panorama feature of the camera. Olympus installs a Proprietary program which supports this feature on the media they sell. They will not release this program to any other manufacturers or vendors. This is a limitation that is imposed by Olympus.
