Brief Description for HK Electronics (Spring Edition) 2006 in Recent Event section
Date: 18th March, 2006

HK ELECTRONICS (Spring Edition) 2006, HK Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong

The Hong Kong TDC Spring Electronic show concluded yesterday (17-April) and attracted a record-breaking number of over 60,000 buyers from overseas during the four-day event. Apart from Hong Kong, buyers were also from the USA, Korea, Japan, Turkey, Australia, India, Singapore, Germany as well as the Chinese Mainland and Taiwan.

With its theme for this event, “Total Flash Memory Solutions with MICRODIA”, MICRODIA held a specially designed booth for its innovative Flash Memory Solutions, such as the latest 1.0GB micro SD Cards, 2.0GB mini SD Cards, 4.0GB SDHC Cards, 4.0GB SDHC USB Cards, 8.0GB CF Cards, 2.0GB MMC mobile, 4.0GB MMC plus, mini USB2.0 All-in-1 Aluminum Card Readers, 4.0GB Traveler USB Drives, were all displayed at the booth and top management from major European, SE Asian, American as well as Chinese Mainland companies and chain stores, including Vodafone, Siemens, Philips, AEG, Samsung, Fujitsu, Nikon, Canon, Sanyo, iMate, Kingfisher, Fnac, Auchan, Target, Carrefour, Metro, NTT DoCoMo, Oracle, and so on, visited the booth to have a personal look at the products.

Especially, they showed big interests in MICRODIA’s innovative technologies in chips packaging, controller firmware development, and the unique production process to deliver the highest read/write speeds and highest capacity flash memory cards in the industry. Many business propositions were received during the show and they all mentioned the collaboration with MICRODIA in these advanced areas would generate great synergy for their business.

“The success of the fair attributed to the bullish outlook of the portable electronics and mobile communications market as well as the growing demand towards branded and higher-end flash memory products. As the flash memory market continues to mature and end users are now demanding advanced technologies in terms of faster read/write speeds, higher capacities, higher durability across various application areas as well as peace of mind in international and lifetime warranty coverage,” said Louis Leung, executive vice president of MICRODIA.

“A study carried out by Oracle Added Value during the fair indicates, the Chinese mainland will have the biggest growth (21%) on retail sales, followed Western Europe (13%) and the United States (13%). Market also expects Broadband, Wireless Communications and 3G Mobile products to become the most popular items in 2006. The result of this study matches perfectly well with our product lineup in flash memory storage and wireless communications products, and in line with our current China Strategy of setting up another new office in Beijing in the coming months ahead to prepare for the market growth in China. This is another perfect example of how MICRODIA maintains its leadership position in expecting the future direction of market growth well in advance,” Louis Leung added.

The next “MICRODIA at HK ELECTRONICS (Spring Edition)” will be staged from 14-April to 17-April, 2007 at the HK Convention and Exhibition Centre.
